Can I do this?

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”

There must have been many instances where you must have questioned your ways or even your decisions. It is natural to think if you can do certain things and if you will be able to do it well. But how will you know unless you start? So here is an understanding of what exactly does self doubt mean and how it changes your way of thinking. It will also consist of ways to deal with self doubt.

A state of hesitation regarding the veracity of any aspect of oneself is known as self-doubt. It can relate to whatever "truth" we have in our minds, as well as our ideas, feelings, judgments, and self-perceptions. Some examples of self-doubt include:

  • Not trusting the decisions you made in a situation

  • Afraid of speaking up because you think they are not good enough

  • Individuals with self-doubt are usually unsatisfied with the work they do

  • When things go bad, they are their worst critic

Some ways to deal with self - doubt:

  • Unconditional self-worth: Try to cultivate a sense that your worth is neither increased or decreased by external factors like how people treat you, your decisions, or the amount of money you make.

  • Unconditional love: Have permanent love for yourself.

  • Growth: Develop personal qualities and build your strengths.

  • Use positive self-talk: Say things to yourself that are kind, positive, or supportive.

  • Use affirmations: For example, you might say, "I am strong and capable," "I am doing my best, and that is enough," or "I am capable of anything I put my mind to."

It can be difficult to trust yourself after certain instances in the past which can lead to self doubt but that is when you need to remember that those incidents were based on that situation of your life and those people around you. You grow and change with every situation and get better. You are more sensible and cautious. You can trust yourself again.
