I feel pressured
"You have to cherish things in a different way when you know the clock is ticking, you are under pressure. "
This is one of the most common phrases we say when we are faced with a sudden increase in work to be completed, like completing an assignment, submitting a project before deadline, cooking a heavy meal for special guests or even something as simple as getting anything done on time. And we do stress out, sweat, worry and even fall sick often under such pressure leading to poor quality of work. But, did we ever try to find ways to deal with this pressure? Or do we just succumb to it? Well, we can manage it at the same time and get it done in an apt manner.
The last-minute syndrome is a complex behavioral pattern that can be rooted in many psychological factors. These factors include:
Instant gratification
Fear of failure
Perfectionism
Strict upbringing
Inherited personality traits
Fear of success
Here are some tips to cope with pressure:
Take a break: Take a few minutes each day to sit quietly and focus on your breath.
Reframe the situation: High-pressure situations can make everything seem worse.
Mindfulness and meditation: These can lower stress levels, improve mental clarity, and enhance overall well-being.
Understand your pressures: Think about all of the pressures you have.
Get organized: Organizing your time can help you feel more in control.
Take it slowly: When we have lots of pressure and are getting stressed, we can find it hard to be productive or concentrate.
Acknowledge your feelings: Accept the way you feel without judgement.
Communicate with your support crew: Talk things out with a close friend, or talk to a therapist if necessary.
It can be taxing to keep yourself sane during pressure situations but this is the time when you need to learn to find ways to keep yourself at peace and manage work effectively instead of feeling overwhelmed. Hope these tips help!
