I don’t know why I am so worried
“Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.”
There are so many instances where we are constantly scared of making the next big mistake. We might have made one mistake which goes around with us in different places and areas of life. It was once but the consequences were so big that we could not let it go and now they are just haunting us in even the slightest of errors and thus the problems that never existed, starts to bother us. And, it even irks us so often that even the most mundane tasks get ruined. And we also remember the criticism that we received and still receive over that mistake. And then comes the crippling anxiety. So how do we really work on it?
Here are some ways to deal with anxious thoughts:
Recognize Acknowledge the thought as just a thought. For example, "I am having a thought that I might fall and hurt my baby".
Observe Notice the thought and its impact on your body and feelings. Allow the thought to be without judging, reacting to, or changing it.
Tell yourself positive things For example, "I can do this!" or, "It's OK to feel anxious. I can do this anyway".
Practice relaxation techniques Try dropping your shoulders and breathing deeply, or imagine yourself in a relaxing place.
Try complementary therapeutic techniques Try exercise such as massage, t'ai chi, yoga, mindfulness techniques, or meditation.
Maintain good nutrition Stay active and stick to a regular sleep schedule.
Drinking less caffeine Caffeine causes a spike in adrenaline levels, and this can make some people feel anxious or on edge.
The last technique is highly unhelpful for me, if you know XD
But these tips may help to get rid of the irrational thoughts on a temporary level and might help to be more stable in the present situations but if it prolongs for longer, then working on these techniques in therapy can help to work on it on a deeper level and get more stable for longer span of time. Remember, one incident does not define your entire life. Hope this helps!
